This policy explains what information Sportiz (thesportiz.com) handles when you visit, and why. The short version: you can read everything without an account, we don’t use tracking cookies, and we don’t sell anything about you.
Visitor statistics
We count visits with our own privacy-friendly statistics tool. It sets no cookies and stores no IP addresses. A visit is counted with an anonymous code built from the day, the site, your IP address and your browser type. The key for that code is deleted at midnight every day, so we can’t recognise you from one day to the next. We also record the page you viewed, the site that sent you (its domain only), your screen size, your browser and operating system, how long the page was open, and your country, which is worked out from your device’s time zone rather than your IP address.
Contact form
If you use the contact form, your name, email address and message are sent to our editorial inbox so we can reply. We keep them only as long as needed to deal with your message, and we never add you to a mailing list. To prevent abuse, the form briefly keeps a scrambled code derived from your IP address to limit repeated sending; it expires after one hour.
Server logs and security
Like any website, our server keeps short technical logs of requests (including IP addresses) to keep the site secure and working. These are used only for that purpose and are deleted automatically after 14 days.
Videos from YouTube
Some articles include official club videos from YouTube. They load in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which doesn’t use cookies to track you unless you press play. When you play a video, YouTube (Google) handles your data under Google’s privacy policy.
Links to other sites
Our articles link to the reporting they are based on. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you follow a link.
Advertising
Sportiz does not currently show adverts. If we start to, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before any advertising cookies are used.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. Because our statistics are anonymous, the only personal information we normally hold is what you send us through the contact form. To make a request, use the contact form.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
