Cantona rejects club future under current ownership
The iconic French forward did not hold back when discussing the billionaire’s contentious viewpoints during an interview with United supporter Peter Boyle.
Asked if he would sign for the Red Devils under the stewardship of the INEOS chief, the former talisman gave a blunt and immediate response.
Speaking to United supporter Peter Boyle, Cantona said:
Of course not. You know what I think about all of this, with this kind of politics. And I cannot understand that someone like this can say something like this when he’s one of the owners of the club.

The outspoken former player pointed out that the sport relies heavily on families who moved across borders, noting his own family background and historical football icons.
Speaking to United supporter Peter Boyle, Cantona said:
Football is a very popular sport. Football is made – all the greatest players come from different waves of immigration. Everywhere, in France, in England, everywhere.
He referenced past stars such as Raymond Kopa and Michel Platini to highlight how diverse backgrounds have enriched the beautiful game across generations.
Ratcliffe’s contentious remarks
The backlash follows remarks made by the billionaire to the BBC where he expressed frustration regarding political leadership and national challenges.
Speaking to the BBC, Sir Jim said:
Unfortunately, at the moment, I think the UK is on the slide. It’s quite difficult to see how we arrest it. I think ultimately, we need politicians who are tough enough to deal with some very difficult problems.
Those statements placed the petrochemicals tycoon directly at odds with a figure whose famous seagull quote previously inspired the investor’s holding company when he bought his stake at Old Trafford.
