Daniel Levy pocketed £27m Tottenham payout after shock exit
Daniel LevyTottenham Hotspur paid out a staggering £27million to Daniel Levy following his sudden departure from the club last year, according to reports.
The eye-watering figure ended his 24-year association with the North London outfit.
According to details published by The Athletic, this massive package covered his basic wage, accumulated bonuses, and the club’s long-term incentive scheme.
It represents one of the most substantial payouts ever given to a football administrator.

A seismic shift in N17
The decision to remove the long-serving chairman came as part of a sweeping restructure behind the scenes.
The club’s hierarchy felt a drastic change of direction was required to stop the rot.
Writing to supporters in an open letter at the conclusion of the previous campaign, Levy’s successor Peter Charrington said:
“Last September, we recognised that something seismic had to change at Spurs. The Lewis family stepped in and authorised a full reset. That decision was not taken lightly, and it came later than it should have.”
Financial backing from the Lewis family
Since parting ways with their former chief, the Lewis family have taken a far more active role in funding the club.
They have injected a massive £320 million into Tottenham over the last twelve months.
Their latest financial contribution involved a £120 million injection designed for working capital.
This move has allowed them to gradually increase their overall ownership stake in the Premier League side.
Meanwhile, Levy still retains a significant portion of the club, holding a 24 per cent share.
However, his influence was diluted from 26 per cent during the summer months.
The former chairman was offered the opportunity to participate in a £100 million equity investment scheme.
He failed to reply before the August deadline, resulting in his stake being reduced.
Heavy investment on the pitch
While the boardroom has undergone a complete transformation, the playing squad has also seen unprecedented levels of investment.
New manager Roberto De Zerbi has been given significant backing in the transfer market.
Tottenham secured ten new signings during the summer transfer window, spending a total of nearly £400 million.
The recruitment drive brought in the likes of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Savio, Jan Paul van Hecke, and Tosim Adarabiyo.
This heavy expenditure was deemed necessary to prevent a repeat of the disastrous previous campaign.
Spurs spent the majority of last year fighting against relegation from the top flight.
They only managed to secure their Premier League survival on the final day of the season.
A crucial victory against Everton was required to keep them in the division.
De Zerbi under early pressure
Despite the massive summer outlay, the early signs on the pitch have been deeply concerning for the Tottenham faithful.
The club currently finds itself in a precarious position.
Heading into the opening international break of the season, Spurs sit rock bottom of the Premier League table.
They have failed to win any of their first five matches, suffering three defeats and picking up two draws.
De Zerbi must find a way to turn things around quickly if he is to justify the heavy backing of the owners.
The pressure is already mounting on the Italian tactician.
Tottenham will return to domestic action on Saturday, 10 October.
They face a daunting trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United, where they will desperately search for their first win.
