Luka Vuskovic breaks silence on controversial Tottenham exit

The teenage central defender was sold to Brighton and Hove Albion in a deal worth up to £50m.
Despite massive long-term potential, he left North London without ever playing a competitive senior match.

Many supporters questioned the wisdom of cashing in on the Croatian talent before giving him a first-team chance.
Speaking to Sportske Novosti, Vuskovic addressed the surprising decision by the North London hierarchy.
He told Sportske Novosti:
I wouldn’t go back to that too much. I appreciate that Tottenham recognised me as a very young player, that they invested in me at the time and that together we found good solutions and clubs where I could play and develop.
The young defender refused to criticise the club’s management or recruitment strategy.
He told Sportske Novosti:
Coaches, directors, boards and sporting policies change at clubs, and it’s not for me to comment on their decisions.
Thriving on the south coast
The teenager has quickly settled into life under Fabian Hurzeler at Brighton.
His impressive displays have helped the Seagulls make a fantastic start to the new campaign.
Brighton currently sit in third place in the Premier League table, just two points adrift of Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Spurs are struggling down at the bottom of the division.
Justifying a club-record fee
The south-coast outfit paid a club-record fee to secure the services of the former Bundesliga loanee.
Vuskovic expressed his delight at the huge faith shown in him by his new employers.
He told Sportske Novosti:
I’m happy Brighton wanted me, that they saw me as part of their project and that they were then prepared to pay a very large amount of money for me.
He added to Sportske Novosti:
That shows me the great confidence the club has in me and I want to repay them in the best possible way.
His composure and aerial dominance have certainly justified that heavy investment straight away.
