Ronaldo leaves Portugal camp after falling out with Jorge Jesus

Bruno FernandesCristiano Ronaldo has walked out on the Portugal national team after a major disagreement with manager Jorge Jesus.
The veteran forward abandoned the squad’s training camp on Wednesday, throwing his future on the international stage into complete uncertainty.
Tensions boiled over after the 41-year-old was left on the bench for Sunday’s 2-1 Nations League victory against Norway.
Ronaldo held a crisis meeting with the Portuguese football association before deciding to pack his bags.

A public family feud
The fallout quickly spread to social media, where Ronaldo’s wife, Georgina Rodriguez, took aim at the veteran Portugal manager.
Rodriguez shared a post to her 78 million Instagram followers featuring a fake quote attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson.
The fabricated quote questioned why the manager would call Ronaldo up without intending to play him, labelling it a sign of insecurity rather than authority.
Writing in a caption on her Instagram story, Rodriguez said:
I donβt know how this man (Jesus) can carry the name of Christ.
The post was swiftly deleted after a few minutes, but not before sparking intense debate among supporters online.
Jesus stands his ground
The 72-year-old Portugal manager has refused to back down, making it clear that Goncalo Ramos is now his preferred choice to lead the line.
Jesus admitted he made errors in how he handled the superstar’s role on Sunday, but insisted the team must come first.
Speaking to reporters in a press conference on Saturday, Jesus said:
The focus has to be on the national team above all else.
The manager added that there would be plenty of time to discuss the situation after the upcoming match.
Portugal are preparing to face Norway again on Sunday night, but they will have to do so without their record goalscorer.
Instead of staying in Europe to resolve the conflict, Ronaldo is reportedly preparing to board a private jet back to Saudi Arabia to focus on his club career with Al-Nassr in Riyadh.
Fernandes calls for unity
The dramatic exit has left teammates trying to manage the fallout ahead of their next international fixture.
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes confirmed he had spoken directly with his former club teammate.

Discussing the situation with reporters, Fernandes said:
He has a reserved place not only among the best of all time, but also in the hearts of the Portuguese people.
The midfielder remains eager to prevent the squad from splintering during a crucial international window.
Urging unity, Fernandes said:
We cannot divide ourselves; the national team is one, and all parties should resolve their issues behind closed doors.
A history of manager bust-ups
This is far from the first time Ronaldo has clashed with his coaches during a legendary 25-year career.
The forward has previously had high-profile disagreements with Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, and Rafa Benitez.
From walking off the pitch early at Manchester United to refusing to celebrate goals at Real Madrid, the striker has never been shy about showing his frustration.
Handling the decline of an ageing icon is always difficult, and his contributions have been heavily debated across three consecutive major tournaments.
Whether this latest dispute marks the final chapter of his record-breaking international career, which includes 146 goals in 234 caps, remains to be seen.
Ronaldo has promised to eventually tell the truth to the Portuguese people about his departure, but for now, Portugal must move on without him.
